BMW 1 Series

Postby annabshort on Sat Nov 21, 2009 8:52 pm

'05 BMW 1 Series with less than 40k miles - timings have moved and the tensions have failed, problems are highlighted on this care all over the internet, yet BMW will not admit anything. Diagnostic check by main dealer at a cost of £600 with the resulting outome being best case scenario £2,200 for new cylinder or £6000 for a new engine. BMW may make a goowill gesture of upto 50% if I am lucky, but they will not provide a courtesy car, admit a fault or pay for the diagnostic check. Jeremy can you help, there is no way this car should be in the state that it is and I am disgusted with the approach of the dealer and BMW, any advice welcome as I feel completely cheated and let down.

Well, let’s not forget the 1 series was designed to be built as the new rover 25. Like the mini and land rovers 4x4 system for the x3, x5 and x6, it was just another of the assets stripped by bmw before they sold it on for £10. And another thing, I've been to the factory where they build them.................... Downtown Hanoi in Vietnam, slap bang in the middle of a corrugated zinc sheet slum. They pay peanuts, so what do you expect the end result to be like?
