Censorship on road pricing by the mile

Postby msknight on Tue Nov 18, 2008 9:17 pm

Well, as everyone probably knows, last year or so the Government - no scratch that, use a small g. The government wanted to put radio beacons in all our cars and employ peace loving Martians to keep track of our road usage and then bill us appropriately. (the tax payer would probably also have to pay the postage from Mars for the bills) Some bright spark started a petition and the rest is statistical history.

Well, now they're trying to do it again. However, the question remains, where are all the petitions? The answer? They are being censored. Here's the result of my petition when I queried it ... it hadn't even shown up on the rejected pile ... what an embarrassment that the government doesn't want to listen to its own people! Rejected as being a devolved issue, no less. Looks like someone on the e-petitions site could do with a British Atlas; or else they're so out of touch with what is going on that they think I'm talking about Manchester or something. What's the matter Gordie, got wax in your ears? Put your head next to the exhaust of a Merlin V12; that'll clear the old drums out.

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/notaxpermile/Baq.......

You have four weeks in which to do this, after which your
petition will appear in the list of rejected petitions.

Your petition reads:

We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to: 'Stop any
attempts to charge for road usage by the mile'

Such a scheme is unrowkable and will cost a small fortune to
implement. The public transport infastructure outside London
is not up to the job and this will drain money from an already
impoverished society. The government is deliberately ignoring
the fairest tax on fuel, so that hungry cars automatically pay
more per mile. A pay-per-mile scheme will cost a fortune to
implement and run, will not adequately manage foreign vehicles,
enrage our population, create a black market in technical
circumventions and has privacy implications beyond measure.

What exemptions will there be for visiting relatives in
hospital? For visiting far flung relatives? This will make
poorer people prisoners in their own localities, wreck UK
holidaymaking industries, increase the costs of goods in the
shops due to increased transport costs and create minor chaos,
like the minibus exampt from the congestion charge, still being
pursued for payment.

There is NO faith in the running of such schemes and this will
only bring missery to our country.
