Does anyone actually care what JC says anyway? ( well obviously some do! ) Lets face it he's an over opinionated bloke who talks about cars on TV, nothing else, So why does his opinion carry so much weight? I'm buggered if I know, I find him very funny and never miss TG even though I'm a biker and he wouldn't piss on me if I was on fire, but if you take anything he says , even remotely seriously, then you have a problem. It's obvious to all ( surely ) that like the 99.9% of us that aren't involved in actually running the country he knows sod all about how to do it successfully, and for all I know that's the same for my mate Gordon and his crew, but I feel slightly safer with Gord running the country than JC. Jezza is like the rest of us armchair Dictators, full of criticism, full of impotent rage at the powers that be, but given the chance of taking the PMs job would shit his pants and/ or go down the pub ( to sit and slag off how shit the PM is ) The only difference is, he's got his mush on TV. Well, so has Paris Hilton and who the hell would get upset if she voiced ( or even had) an opinon about our PM, his one eyed-ness or that he's a jock ? My point is what does she do? She gets shagged by skater boys on video and sunbathes, does that make her opinion worth getting upset about, no I don't think so, as she knows NOTHING. Sorry to put JC in the same bracket as Paris but his opinion matters about as much. I'm not sure what he is, or really does, TV personality, writer, Alf Garnet for the noughties? Who really give a shit, He makes me laugh, even if I think he's talking Bollocks.

Bigjohnf,buffalohill, I agree with much of what you say, but the point here is that linking disability with race and intelligence in one personal attack is highly abusive. BBC Worldwide, by refusing to insist on a proper sincere apology , are now complicit in the offence. I as a licence fee payer of the BBC am therefore by implication also guilty of the offence unless I strongly demand the BBC take action. The one person who needs to post on this forum to explain his words and actions is conspicuously absent. So come on Mr Clarkson what have you got to say for your self? Have you lost your bottle? Well, cheers for agreeing with me, but I think you missed the point. If the blokes opinion mattered, or he was even slightly qualified to make public statements on public people, then he would have lost some of his credibility by saying what he said but then again he probably wouldn't be so funny.( he would probably be a political commentator or real journalist) He's the bloke that says publicly what Mr Average is trying to form into a meaningful sentence over his Stella whilst naming his dream football team. He's taking the piss, avin a laugh. Lighten up a bit. We do have libel and Slander laws for this sort of stuff you know!
On the subject of lightening up, cynicaljock do you really feel that you are seen to be condoning what he has said by paying your licence fee? Do you think that you were responsible for Hiroshima because Britain was allied with The USA? What about all those poor sods in York that William Wallace slaughtered, you must have trouble sleeping at night being Scottish! Heavy. You must be desperate to feel guilty about something.

Bigjohnf. You make some good points. I agree Gordon Brown can look after himself. I guess I've just had enough of JC over the years and this last episode tipped me over the top. Your point about Mr Average is correct and that is what concerns me about JC , because of his public profile he is seen as a role model for many people in this country who go out and copy him. Get a grip. SA is no different from any other country or city in the world. Just take a look at the crime stats for London. There are places no more than 10mins walk from my front door where I just wouldn't go after dark, and equally there are others that I can freely walk without any worries.

Do you all kind of miss the point...? Watching Top Gear makes you laugh (3 blokes with very different views on cars, lifestyle, etc). The fact they get on despite these differences is down to their love of all things automotive. And it makes great veiwing. What he says is sometimes what we would all like to say, sometimes what we all would like not to say, and at other times there is a split decision, what we start talking about in the pub/dinner party/dungeon/HoP/Work Cooler etc. If it starts a debate, thats good. About 90% of what he says does not start a debate. It just makes you laugh, or rage. So let's rejoice in the 10% where debate happpens, where people are not CONVINCED they are right. Well done JC. Bad or wrong on some stuff, Good and right on other stuff. Let the debate begin...

It seems to me that there are some people on this planet who are right, at least 90% of the time. Some of these are Celebrities, namely Anne Widdecombe, and Jeremy Clarkson.

Jeremy's aversion to politically correct phrases is refreshing, and the commentary in some of his written work is spot on.

We need more people with the sort of insight Anne and Jeremy provide.
