The Bald Avengers

Postby thebaldavengers on Wed Nov 18, 2009 2:39 am

Hello everyone,
We are two brothers who have secured a place in The Mongol Rally 2010. For those of you who dont know what thats all about, please look up http://www.theadventurists.com. Basically, we are going to travel from Perth in Scotland, to the official start venue Goodwood then on to Ulaan Baatar, the capital of Mongolia, with no support vehicles or back up team at all, using only our wits, good looks, charm and alot of palm greasing (the latter will probably be the most successful).

The trip will cover 33% of the earths surface a distance in excess of 10,000 miles, over mountain ranges and deserts, and we are going to do it in a 15 year old VW van with a fully functioning cherry picker fitted to the roof. The answer to your question is yes, we are mad. When we reach the destination, the vehicle, which we have christened Cherrie Baldie, will be sold off for charity. We will be raising funds for Help for Heroes as well as Tayside Mountain rescue and Radio Tay's Cash for Kids.

Currently we are setting up our own web site http://www.thebaldavengers.com which will be filled with information, pictures, silly stuff and updates as we go. Anyway thanks for reading and taking an interest.

Admirable as it is, I don't see it as much of a challenge driving over puddings!

However, good luck. A worthy cause.

Thanks for your good wishes, think that the puddings will be the ones doing the driving haha. I dont suppose that there is any way of contacting JC through this site as I know the Help for Heroes charity is on he supports we would have liked to bring our challenge to his attention.

Ah! The extra 's' has now gone! Now it all makes sense (which is more than most of us on this forum do most of the time).

Don't quite understand the need for the cherry picker though??

Surely you're not helping to put up the Christmas lights in Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan en route, are you???!!

Think that christmas lights in July might be a bit early but we will aquire some high up things to remind us of our adventure, we will probably auction them off for extra funds when we get back. The vehicle gets sold off when it gets there and the proceeds go to the charity. The organisers asked for a cherry picker so we got one. Other teams are going with all sorts of cars one team even has a Roller originally owned by Jimmy Saville. Our own web site will be on line soon and will probably be full of spelling mistooks as well please check it out and dig deep its all goin to help. Thanks again.

Well you might as well put the lights up then. That's when they start Christmas here anyway. Ho! Ho! Ho!

Bet Jimmy Saville's roller will stink of cigar smoke though. Now then! Now then! Have a good search under the seats. Might find some of his tasteful trinkets, or even some authentic Gerald Ratner receipts!
