Hi Forum People,

As May might say "JC is a Tosser", but in the great ochre land the epitaph would probably be "F**k-wit!"

I say that with jest ,mostly because I get a chuckle out of Clarkson's scribblings and enjoy the ir-reverent manner with which the "boys" treat various car manufacturers' offerings.

That said however I've got to take issue with JC's claim, even if he was being hyperbolic, in his "Driven to Distraction" tome (see p12 of the soft cover edition) that Australia's only contribution of note is the "Hills Hoist" or as he puts it "rotary washing line".

As a matter of necessity, in outback Oz, with the aid of a pair of large combination pliers and a roll of 10 gauge galvanised wire many, seemingly impossible, repairs are routinely done to vehicles that allow them to get to a fully equipped repair shop for more regular attention.

So go on scribbling JC, I'll go on chuckling - and if you happen to read this give my regards to the Hampster, up until I was 8 years old I lived in Hall Green - He will know where that is -even if you don't
