the Clarkson polemic seems likely to cost the petrolhead nothing more than ten minutes away from the wheel and five quid docked from his wages

Think we could have a whip round & cover that :D

I'm new here, so hello.

Basically I came looking for somewhere to say Good Luck to Jeremy, and keep up with the remarks I laughed my head off with what he said in Sundays Top Gear.
Some people complain just for the sake of complaining and they know what happens on top gear, If they don't like it they should simply get stuffed and turn the channel over.

I'm seriously trying not to swear here, I'm just sick to death of all these friggin muppets who complain, bitch and whine too just about any kind of "off" comment made.

Keep us all laughing Jeremy and ignore those who have nothing better to do.

And I thought it was just a joke. Wait... It WAS just a joke. Don't people have more important things to get worked up about?

That's all it is. Weirdos and sheep sh@gg3rs with stuf all better to do who live such sad and insignificant lives, spotting trains or collecting stamps, it gives them some variety to do something different. Hopefully this will be treated with the contempt it deserves but I fear that if the BBC let this get to them it will be a very big blow to freedom of speech. Do these people tell their grandad off when he comments on "blacks" or "asians" really dont want to start a racial argument just trying to give this some perspective. The comments Jeremy made where humerous an nothing more, there are much worse things said all the time. Ah forget it, can we just shoot the complainers please?

Go on you know you want to.

Scouse.

Scouse I completely agree. These people who are most likely part of the "political correctness police" where anything you say cannot be offensive to anyone in ear shot, in the country, in the world and finally anyone or anything that has any conscience within the universe. I think its ludicrous people can react so badly to what was intentionally meant to be funny. I think if the bbc are worried about a couple of hundred complaints they'l be recieving a few thousand if they suspended J.C.

I think that to say some of these people have "walnut sized brains" is wrong and that surely your brain size must come into question.
The remark to someone related to one of the victims of the murderers Peter Sutcliffe or Steven Wright would obviously be very distressing - and JC's words would cause a lot of hurt.
I feel that the remarks were made and that can't be changed but a mere apology from JC if he caused offense to anyone should suffice.
In my mind it is nowhere near as nasty as what was done to Andrew Sach's recently - J Ross and R Brand deserved the punishment they got, but what JC said is nowhere near as nasty, just insensitive to some people in this comment.
Having said that i would play devils advocate here and say yes it was a funny comment but fortunately i have not had a relative fall prey to a murderer as mentioned above.
Thankfully we live in a country of free speech and JC didn't aim the comment at anyone in particular, so this is very different from personally attacking someone.
I think JC is probably the best presenter the Beeb have anyway - he is genuinely funny without resorting to distasteful language - something that Mr Ross has to resort to to get laughs!
At the end of the day please just apologise if it caused offense JC and get on with the great job you do - Maybe a good idea would be to have a disclaimer scroll across the screen in the opening credits or whatever saying the usual "any comments made are not aimed at anyone in particular blah blah blah".

being a truck driver and avid fan of clarkson and top gear i thought the comment he said about truck drivers was hilarious although i knew as soon as he said it it would get complaints, and not one driver i spoke to was upset about comments so this is just another witchhunt from a minority moaning public.

Jezza's comments where not aimed at anyone and I would say anyoone that took offence or made a link need to have a long look at themselves and how they go through life. Does no one remember Roy "chubby" Brown or Benny Hill!?!? I must admit I don't like Chubby myself but alot of people do. Did anyone complain in the days of Benny Hill? Did we have all this trouble back then with the things he used to get upto?!

Signs of how this country is going down the pan because too many people are listening to the "PC brigade"

Stuff the disclaimer and personally I would say you could stuff your apology where the sun don't shine but I can see why it might be needed, doesn't mean I have to agree with it but maybe that's just the scouse way, "if you are offended by something so easily I think you have more insecurity problems than you or anyone around you realises!"

End this rubbish now! We have posts on this forum from numerous "truckers" and one gent claiming to be the older brother of one of the murdered prostitutes. They haven't taken offence by this so what right has any one else to say anything about it?! Was it your family member!? Do those that have complained know the first thing about driving lorries!? I think not! Get a life!
