The condition of our roads

Jeremy,

I would like you to join our campaign against the road conditions at present. In particular the amount of pot holes etc. We have an innovative method of repairing the pot holes which is environmentally friendly, safer for the repairer, 96% recycleable and sustainable. What's more it gives a solution which we are prepared to give "a lifetime of the surface it is in" guarentee.
Please let us know if you are interested in being in this with us.

I'm up for that. I ride motorbikes and apart from the fact pot holes can be lethal to those on bikes I myself have come so close to breaking my wrists when my front wheel jars in a pothole and sends a shock up the front forks an to my shoulders via my wrists. On more than one occasion I have had to pull over for a couple of minutes because of the pain this can cause. You learn to dodge pot holes quite well especially when you're on a bike and with increasing traffic levels and the seeming increase of blind drivers it's one more thing you really don't need as it is just distracting you from watching the vehicles around you, instead your eyes are on the road trying to spot pot holes before it's too late and you're lying on the floor wrapped round your bike waiting for an ambulance because the local council can't be bothered keeping up with road repairs.

I have a suggestion to make on this subject, the potholes are bad but they are a result of wear and tear, the real arse pains are the man made speed humps of which I have to negotiate 12 in the first half mile of leaving my house. If all the speed humps were to be torn up and the material stockpiled we could use it to fill the potholes in thus taking away our cash strapped councils excuse of not having enough money to repair the roads.

If only it were so easy.
I like your thinking but know that it will not happen. We have to launch a crusade, a campaign, call it what you will but with the amount of tax paid by vehicle owners and the revenue collected from "safety cameras" there must surely be money enough to address this problem nationally. Every time you go over a pothole you do damage to your vehicle, or even yourself, the government owe it to us to get the roads right!
