Jeremy,
In 1960,when you were born, I had just started work as a despatch lad at the York branch of the Yorkshire Post.
Memories include a phone call from the Press association (from whom we got racing results), but it just said
There has been a Great Train robbery!! print story in late race column.
On another day the call was to print the Aberfan coal tragedy. I got to be despatch manager at the Branch but we were all redundant by 1971. But because of that link I love reading your SUN columns.
my code name relates to the Railway Brass Band that I play in. HAVE JUST FINISHED 2 remembrance parades, and the next up is standing on York Station playing xmas carols for two weeks .
