This brings me to another question, what is it that "makes Americans so stupid?" I don't know how many times you have been to the states, but there is more than one of them. Some of them are quite different. For example, Utah is filled with a bunch of crazy people. New York is filled with a bunch of jerks. Minnesota is filled with a bunch of people who's parents moved over from Sweden back when things sucked there.
