Hi Jeremy,
I work for the SS Nomadic Charitable Trust in Belfast and I am planning a dinner in March of next year to raise much needed funds for the SS Nomadic restoration project.
The S.S. Nomadic is the only remaining historic link to Titanic left afloat. She is also the last surviving White Star Vessel in the world. Like the Titanic, she was built at the shipyards of Harland & Wolff in Belfast in the early 1900’s, at that time, the largest shipbuilding centre in the world. Nomadic was launched in 1911 and transported First and Second Class passengers out from Cherbourg to the ill fated Titanic.
After years of neglect, the Nomadic was purchased by the Department for Social Development on 26th January 2006 and the Trust was created the same year. The Trust aims to ensure the maritime and industrial heritage of the era of Titanic is celebrated and shared. It aims to do so through the restoration and development of the SS Nomadic, as a sustainable tourist, cultural and education attraction that will act as a platform to promote our proud industrial and maritime heritage, including showcasing the history of Titanic and the White Star ships – a true legacy to Belfast!
Our fundraising dinner will be held after the launch of the 2009 ‘Titanic Made in Belfast Exhibition’ on Thursday 12th March in W5 Interactive Discovery Centre at the Odyssey complex here in Belfast.
I would be absolutely delighted if you would agree support our project by attending the event as our guest and addressing the audience before hand to help us raise awareness of the Nomadic project and the pioneering work of our ancestors who created the White Star Liners in the shipyards of Harland & Wolff nearly 100 years ago.

I look forward to hearing from you.
With kind regards,
Laura
